CAMARGUE
Le fotografie di questo ciclo sono figlie di un potente legame, quello esistente tra l'occhio sensibile di Marco Rigamonti e la terra che l'artista ha scelto come oggetto del suo lavoro, il sud della Francia, la regione della Camargue. Questo legame, costruito nel tempo con pazienza e dedizione, è fatto di fiducia e rispetto. Ci si stupisce, osservando le immagini, di come l'intuito del fotografo sia riuscito sapientemente a prevalere sulla percezione del visitatore e catturi ciò che di solito sfugge ai più, intenti ad osservare ciò che li colpisce al primo sguardo piuttosto che concentrarsi sull'essenza e lo spirito del luogo. Il risultato della ricerca di Marco Rigamonti è una visione intima e personale, lontana dagli stereotipi solitamente associati a questo noto luogo di vacanza. I tramonti rosso fuoco, i fenicotteri rosa, i cavalli bianchi e i tori selvaggi, elementi tipici dell'iconografia della Camargue, cedono qui la scena ad una sconfinata distesa di natura selvaggia e incontaminata dove la presenza dell'uomo risulta essere marginale. Qualcosa di tanto importante ed evidente che non tutti vedono.
In Camargue, la luce è pura perché non cè niente che la frastagli, che la rompa; essendo tutto piatto e privo di rilievi, essa arriva dal cielo diretta, non riflessa e deviata, pura - appunto- e bianca.
The photographs here presented are the daughters of a strong bond, the bond existing between Marco Rigamonti’s sensitive eye and a land that the artist chose as the subject of his work, the Southern French natural region of Camargue.
This bond is made of trust and respect, built with patience and dedication. It was a genuine surprise, however, to see how the photographer’s intuition was cleverly directed to prevail on the perception of the visitor. Marco Rigamonti has captured what usually escapes the tourist travelling in Camargue, who remains in a superficial dimension, intent on observing what strikes his eyes at first glance rather than on looking for the essence and the spirit of the place. The result of Marco Rigamonti’s quest is an intimate and personal vision, far from the stereotypes usually associated with this popular holiday location. Fiery red sunsets, pink flamingos, white horses and wild bulls, all those typical emblems of Camargue give way to a vast expanse of wild and unspoiled nature, where the presence of man turns out to be marginal. Something so important and obvious. Yet everyone sees it.
In Camargue the light is pure since nothing jags or breaks it. The land being all flat and without climbs, the light comes directly from the sky, not reflected or deviated by anything, pure – in fact – and white.
